Chapati Bread

Ingredients

400g Atta flour
2 Tbsp Sugar
10g Salt
50mL Vegetable Oil
260mL Luke Warm Water

Method

  1. Place Atta Flour into a bowl followed by sugar and salt and lightly mix. once mixed, add the vegetable oil.
  2. Gradually add water until the dough becomes as firm as your earlobes. Knead until smooth on a floured bench. Add flour as needed to make the dough come together to form a soft dough.
  3. Cover in plastic wrap and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Evenly divide the dough into 6 and roll each piece into a ball and cover with plastic wrap.
  5. Lightly flatten 1 ball at a time into a round circle with your hand. Roll out with a rolling pin until thin and even in thickness – shake off excess flour.
  6. Heat frying pan on high heat and spray with cooking oil. Place flat bread into fry pan and when it starts to bubble, flip onto the other side.
  7. Place kitchen towel over Chapati Breads to prevent them from drying out.
